A premier football event to support employee engagement for Tarmac
Eye on the ball
We have worked with Tarmac for several years, arranging a number of hospitality events and experiences. During that time we’ve built a strong understanding of the events Tarmac like to host, and know that they are always looking for something different, whether it’s for their clients, suppliers or employees.
With this in mind, when the opportunity arose to hold an event at St. George’s Park - the home of English football - we knew it would fit, whoever the audience. Tarmac loved the idea and thought it would work well as an HR initiative to support employee engagement, giving them the opportunity to involve staff across the whole business.
The whole ten yards
The event was spread across the whole site, including a private space at the Hilton Hotel, the England changing rooms, and the Centre of Excellence.
The seven-a-side tournament itself was held in the Centre of Excellence where each of the eight teams were coached by an ex-professional football manager. One of the managers was former LMA Manager of the Year, Alan Curbishley, who notably said;
I really enjoy participating in and managing at LMA football tournaments. The players get to experience the world class facilities the professionals use for an unforgettable experience.
To complete the experience talkSPORT Presenter, Georgie Bingham, hosted and commentated throughout the day.
A league of their own
After their competitively fought tournament, while refuelling with some well-earned bacon sandwiches, the Tarmac footballers had the opportunity to quiz their team managers during a Q&A session held in the briefing room. The teams then had a tour of the estate, including the state-of-the-art fitness rooms, gym and swimming pool.
In the evening the group were able to wind down at a gala dinner in the Club England Suite, where they spoke about the day’s events, enjoyed a video with highlights from the day, and watched as prizes were awarded to key players.
Tarmac were utterly thrilled with the day and are looking to make this an annual company event, with a ladies tournament alongside the men’s in future years.
